There’s something magical about putting an outfit together and not only looking in the mirror and being all like wow, girl… I wouldn’t kick you out of bed, but also feeling good all day long.
Comfort and feeling good in my clothes is a huge deal to me. Probs the reason I take my bra off like the moment I pull my car into the garage at the end of the day. Also, probs the same reason I frequently opt for bandaids instead of bras.
Hashtag blessed with no chest.
Even though the comfort level of the actual clothing is super important, I do like to step out of my comfort zone a bit and try different trends and looks.
I suppose that’s where the inspiration for this post came. The trends I’m digging and the trends you will probably see me sporting’ a lot here on le blog and on le Instagram.
Only outside of my house, though… figure there’s no sense in bras OR pants once you’re in for the night.
Fashion Trends I’m Digging Right Now
Bodysuits have been back for a while and I just started indulging in this trend the past year or so.
I had a lot of reservations about them so it took me a while to break down and purchase one. And of course, once I finally was convinced I opted for super affordable ones from Forever21.
My bodysuit reservations:
Buttons in the crotch. Don’t know bout you, but I usually try to avoid any kind of metal snapping contraption away from my vagina.
Just a policy I always found useful.
However, I’ve found that most bodysuits have small dainty buttons that are very mildly uncomfortable and pretty much can’t be felt ~if~ you wear underwear.
Probs just gave you way too much info about my bodysuit wearing habits. Oops.
The buttons in the crotch to cuteness ratio turns in favor of cuteness. Aka I’ll let these snapping contraptions invade my private area… all in the name of fashion.
Secondly, snapping buttons can be a bit of a hassle. Of course you can always treat the bodysuit like a swim suit and peel the whole thing down when ya gotta pee. But then, you’re in the bathroom and suddenly OH SHIT I’M NAKED.
Which is particularly awkward when you are out with the gals and do that sassy thing where 15 of you cram into one stall and wait to flush until everyone’s gone.
Again, the awkward to cuteness ratio comes out in favor of me buying 15 bodysuits and wearing them every day.
I found this striped one at Forever 21 (seen in pictures) and it spoke to me on a deep TAKE MY MONEY NOW level.
Are high-waisted jeans not every mom’s dream? I mean as long you can find the right pair that doesn’t give you that cute little camel toe front and center, I’m all about it.
I’ve noticed a good pair of high-waisted jeans can lock in and hide some of the “I had a baby and ate some tacos too” fluff around the mid-section.
Pair those jeans with a belt and a bodysuit and suddenly I’m feeling like I’ve actually got some curves to seduce my husband with.
Granted, I don’t ~actually~ have any curves.
I once took an online assessment where I entered my measurements in order to be told which fruit or shape I was. Apple, pear, busty, curvy, etc… nope, I got rectangle.
As in no hun, you have no curves and there’s basically no difference between you and the shape of a greeting card.
When I slip into a pair of high-waisted jeans, your eyes have been tricked into seeing curves that don’t actually exist. And I throw on a belt just for extra trickery.
Off-the-shoulder Tops and Dresses
The cold-shoulder and off-the-shoulder trend has been marching strong for quite some time and no shame here when admitting I love showing off my shoulders and collarbone area.
I work hard in the gym to achieve those Michelle Obama shoulders so I’ll be damned if I have to cover them up.
I happen to find the décolleté area of a woman’s body incredibly sexy. So delicate and beautiful and I’m all about trying to appear delicate and beautiful.
If you haven’t already noticed from my Instagram, I wear this trend a lot. Partially, because I’m into showing off my shoulders and partially because I can get away without wearing a bra.
The Third-piece Fashion Rule
Surely, you’ve heard about the third-piece rule when it comes to fashion.
Basically, when creating an outfit make sure you add in a third piece besides the top and bottom pieces. The third piece could be a jacket/cardigan, a statement necklace or even a hat.
Of course, you’re not going to like become like number one on the Fashion Police’s MOST WANTED list or anything if you decide that two pieces is more than enough.
I just really feel that personally (aka on my body), without the third piece, an outfit can sometimes be lacking or incomplete.
Once I add a boujie statement necklace, my fav tassel earrings or a leopard print jacket, I’m suddenly feeling 8363939 times more put together.
Because the weather has sucked balls lately, my third piece has more often than not been a jacket or cardigan to help keep me warm.
Once the weather warms up, I’ll be shifting my third-piece focus to statement necklaces, earrings and probably some fun summer hats.
Thanks for reading, friend.
