First off, I really intended on posting this on last Monday. And then life, sickness and laziness said lolz nope.
So only a few days late and into a completely new month, here it is.
Each night, usually around 9pm, something magical happens. With my toddler asleep in her crib and my husband occupied (surely watching something on Netflix or a college basketball game), I get to slip out the door and go to a place where I get to listen to music, clear my thoughts and basically sweat my ass off whilst trying to build an ass.
I’d be lying if I said my main motive for going to the gym was anything but trying to build a hefty ass, sculpt some Michelle Obama shoulders and y’know… find out if there really are any ab muscles under that fluff or if the doctor just took em out when he was carving my baby out.
BUT… as all you parents know… alone time away from those precious angels is a big perk of going to the gym.
Seriously, it’s really like winning some sort of lottery where you still pay bills but at least you don’t go broke 5 years after winning because you bought too many Lamborghinis and nothing but all-you-can-eat seafood buffet meals.
So yeah, WORKOUT CLOTHES.
I really do have a thing for workout clothes. And by “thing” I mean, I enjoy buying clothes that make me feel confident in the gym because isn’t that the whole point?
Even though I like cute gym clothes, I usually keep my gym clothes separate from my everyday clothes. As in, you’ll never hear me talk about how a pair of gym leggings are perfect to wear straight from the gym to the office for work because butt sweat.
Maybe some of you gals can blot your sweat away with a single tissue but home girl here leaves the gym red, blotchy and completely soaked through.
My Favorite Places to Buy Gym Clothes
I mean, really, Target is like my favorite place to buy anything but they do have a decent section completely devoted to those who like to workout.
The activewear section is fairly easy to navigate and find the type of pants (material, length, etc.) and top (material, sleeve variation, color, etc.) which I find super helpful when trying to repurchase items I’ve already found have worked well for me.
Target also has a great variety of sport bras for the lucky ones that actually require more than a support of a bandaid for their girls. Granted, bras with more support are going to be a bit more damaging to your wallet but a girls gotta do what she’s gotta do.
Of course, this place is hit or miss. And when you go in looking for workout gear you also leave with an end table, a new set of bath towels and pink Himalayan salt.
If you’re looking for a great selection of brand name gym clothes at a discounted price then TJ is your gal.
I frequently find Nike, Under Armour, New Balance, Calvin Klein and other brand names in the activewear section.
If brand names mean nothing to you, there are also tons of off-brands with good quality and good prices.
Typically, I can find workout pants from $12-$20, sport bras anywhere from $5-$20 and workout tops anywhere from $5-$35.
Who knew my absolute fav high street fashion place would be such a hot spot for some cute gym wear.
Forever 21’s activewear section carries a wide selection of clothes with different levels of… um… coverage?
Personally, I’m not the gal that wears the fish net crop top over my sport bra to the gym. But if that’s you, Forever has got you covered… and you do you, girl.
Little side story for ya: couple months ago, Evan and I got into a bit of a disagreement. Actually, it went something like him asking me if I minded he did something, me saying I’d rather he didn’t and then he goes and does it anyway with the explanation of “I thought you’d get over it.”
Luckily for him, I am someone who can be bought. Whether it be right or wrong morally, I tend to accept apologies gracefully when they come with a gift.
So basically, Evan bought me a massive amount of workout clothes from Forever 21. For less than $100, I was able to get three sport bras, six workout tops and three pairs of gym leggings.
All items have held up well while lifting and doing cardio.
