New Year’s Resolutions for a Twenty-Something Gal

Joys of Josie, Lifestyle / Monday, January 1st, 2018

I should probably start with: stop calling myself a twenty-something. But, honestly I’m just not ready to label myself as a 30-year-old.

Thirty year olds have names like Janet or Karen, wear mom jeans with 9-inch zippers and listen to the Dave Ramsey show in their minivan on the way to drop the kids off at piano lessons.

And while I’m sure I’m not as “cool” as I was at the ripe age of 25 when alcohol poisoning and tanning beds were cool… I’m still going to pretend… you know, without the poisoning or tanning.

You won’t mind, will ya?

Yeah, resolutions.

Clearly, I’m aware that every social media network is completely crammed with New Year’s resolutions… (probably not unlike the massive cramming of people every gym in the world is experiencing today)

But yeah… I’m going to add one more. Soz.

New Year’s Resolutions

Stay in shape

I’m pretty excited that I can make a New Year’s resolution to stay in shape. Cause… years past, it wasn’t quite like that.

After finally finding a system that works for me and has been working for almost a year now, I’m hoping to stick to it and continue to eat healthy, workout and love the way my body looks and feels.

There’s absolutely nothing better than being completely comfortable in your own skin. And I say that as someone who has spent many years absolutely uncomfortable with own body.

Last year, I wasn’t able to read as much as I would have liked to. I could be wrong, but it ~may~ have had something to do with having a baby to take care of. Oh and trying to figure out who the hell I was as a mom (still working on that).

I won’t set any number of books to read but I would really like to try to finish a book about every week and a half or two.

I’m a sucker for YA literature, thrillers and just good fast-paced novels. If you have any recommendations, please comment below and let me know… I love getting recommendations.

Stop trying to please people

So, it’s not that I’m looking to become Josie Short, the girl who has Resting Bitch Face AND Active Bitch Attitude.

And tbh, sometimes when I swear I’m going to stop being a people pleaser… I puss out in fears of being labeled a bitch.

So hear me out:

It is absolutely draining to worry about what I’ve done to upset someone, bend over backwards for someone or go to no ends to make someone happy when they would never return or even appreciate the act.

2018 is going to be the year where I figure ~it~ out.

Well, hopefully.

This year I’m hoping to find the balance between being kind (professional when need be) but not bending over backwards for those that will not appreciate me or my efforts.

My time is valuable and I don’t want to waste it.

Grow my blog

I’ve been doing this whole blog thing for about a year now and I gotta say, I’m digging it.

Who wouldn’t love being able to share their life through words and pictures? Lolz, jokes… I know I’m probably more open than most.

I’ve been able to use writing and my style as a creative outlet, I’ve met some amazing people, and I’ve even had a couple of fun partnerships and sponsorships.

My hopes for 2018 are to keep on doing the same thing but hopefully multiply the sponsorships and networking.

For the majority of my year of blogging, I’ve pretty much been winging it. And as much as I feel like I’m (v v much) a ~winging it~ kind of gal, I’m going to focus on implementing some strategies for growing my blog, social media presence and landing sponsorships and partnerships.

Hope y’all have enjoyed reading another resolution post.

I’d love to hear about some of your New Year’s resolutions. Comment below and let me know one of your resolutions.
